NANNY BUBBY AFFIRMATION #17
💗 If you have a growing family it is your job to addict your children to nutritious dense food that helps their bodies and minds grow healthily into adulthood. They especially need this for brain function. There is a connection between the gut and the brain.
💗I hear from so many adults with young families that they just don’t have the time to prepare the kinds of foods they want to have their kids eat. Life is so busy.
💗Remember the habits you teach them now will be taken with them into adulthood. When you are hungry reaching for pretzels or goldfish in a bag as a daily habit is not giving them any nutrition. In fact, it is causing their blood sugar to spike and adding layers and layers of inflammation into their bodies that they will have to, themselves, over come in young adulthood, if they are lucky enough to spot it that young.
💗What can you do? Here are just a few changes you can make that are unnoticeable.
-Forget to buy and then empty the house of those tempting bagged snacks.
-Always have fresh fruits, cheeses and easy veggies on hand for them to grab instead.
-Before leaving work to pick them up at school, cut up an apple, grab some string cheese. They may not eat it the first day, but when it is clear they can’t wear you down to the bad snacks, by the third day (YES, that is all it takes) they will eat what you brought them. Kids eat when they are hungry!
💗Let me suggest not making an announcement about this change, but just organically change your offerings and what is in the house and they, too, will change naturally.
💗The best tip I know is to prep all your foods for the week for 2 hours on a Sunday. Have the kids help shop and prep and you will see a huge change in their habits as they participate in the decision making and prepping for the week.
